The Business of Good: Young Africa Rising

Documentary film to tell an inspiring story

MessageMakers produced a feature documentary project about the power of social entrepreneurship in global society. Created in partnership with the University of Notre Dame and Bisk, “The Business of Good: Young Africa Rising” tells the complex story of 25 young African entrepreneurs who are thrust into American culture during a State Department-sponsored fellowship at the University of Notre Dame, and must find ways to learn and work together in order to lead a global future.

In order to tell this complex story, MessageMakers conducted some pre-interviews with program participants over Skype while they were still in Africa. While a full film crew was with the participants for several days at the start and end of the program, MessageMakers also embedded a documentary videographer with the participants for an entire month, following them through a range of experinces including a Washington, D.C. summit with President Barack Obama.
