Here’s to a bright new year and a happy farewell to the old, to the new things yet to come and to the memories that we hold! Let’s take a trip down memory lane and give 2010 one last tribute.

January

• The New Year began with resolutions, cold weather and the world’s heart reaching out to Haiti after the devastating earthquake.
• The world’s tallest building opened its doors to the public in Dubai, UAE.

February

• The 2^nd annual Old Town Stomp was held, helping to pay for the over 150 musicians scheduled to perform at the Lansing JazzFest and Old Town BluesFest.

March

• MessageMakers was awarded two Aurora Gold Awards for “Ride Forever,” a convention closing video for the Harley Owners Group, and “The Better Way to Get from Here to There,” an advertising campaign for Indian Trails Motor Coach Company.

April

• The Library of Congress (LOC) announced that it would be archiving all of its Twitter feed for research to measure how social networks evolve over time.
• The new Lansing City Market reopened its doors, featuring local growers, producers, artisans and restaurants.
• Old Town Lansing welcomed new businesses into the neighborhood, including Girl Scouts: Heart of Michigan, David Zoglio at Law, Cravings Gourmet Popcorn, Arts Council of Greater Lansing, Against the Grain, Meridian Entertainment Group, Greenfield Collection, Haze Art Gallery, Thailand, Blown and Famous Taco. 

May

• Thousands of graduates entered the adult career world.
• Michigan's businesses, hotels, restaurants and bars (with few exceptions) went smoke free May 1^st.

June

• Old Town’s Chalk of the Town took place. Artists were judged on their artwork, made using only chalk on sidewalks.
• Festival of the Sun (and Moon) kicked off the beginning of summer in Old Town.

July

• The State of Michigan instated a new law that prohibits reading, typing or sending a text message while operating a vehicle.

August

• MessageMakers won three Telly Awards for the video productions “Bioeconomy,” “Indian Trails: Better Than Roller Skates” and “H.O.G., Ride It.”!
• The 16^th annual Lansing JazzFest took place in Old Town—another successful free 2-day event full of jazz music, food, drink and good friends, supported by MessageMakers.
• Kiplinger named Lansing “One of the Nation's Top Ten Best Cities For Young Adults”!

September

• Another month for awards! MessageMakers won four Communicator Awards, honoring “creative excellence for communications professionals” as judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts.
• The Old Town BluesFest, produced by the Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art, brought thousands of people to performance venues right outside our door.

October

• Our advice on internet promotion was shared in Michigan Restaurateur magazine.
• We provided event support for a meeting featuring former U.S. President Bill Clinton.
• Jacob Mendel won the Most Promising Student Filmmaker Award at the 13^th annual East Lansing Film Festival (ELFF) Lake Michigan Film Competition—sponsored by MessageMakers.

• MessageMakers launched this new website design. (We hope you've enjoyed it.)

November

• Cyber Monday, the national online shopping day, produced a record high of just over $1 billion worth of online sales.
• Michigan State University’s football team won a share of the Big Ten championship for the first time in twenty years!

December

• Our president, Terry Terry, was honored with the 2011 Greater Lansing Catalyst for Change-Individual Award at the “Greater Lansing on Top” annual dinner, presented by Capital Area Michigan Works! and Leap Inc.
• MessageMakers’ holiday open house went out with a bang! Thank you for everyone who attended! 
• A total lunar eclipse occurred on the winter solstice—a night of darkness!
