Before you attempt to access your new Email account on this system, you will need to login to the Web Mail interface and configure your account. The following is a step by step description of how to do this. Play close attention to the steps which create special folders. These will be necessary when you configure you Email Client to interact with those folders (mailboxes).

Web Email login: Type your Username and password in appropriate fields. Remember that Username is Account Name@messagemakers.com. This will be the same when you setup your Email client.

Folder Navigation: When you first login and are shown the Folder Navigator, the only folder you will see is the INBOX. You will need to go through the configuration options below to have the system create additional folders you will need when you configure you Email client to send and receive mail through the email server. Click on the Options button on the Menu Bar to bring up the Account Options menu.

Web Mail Configuration: These settings areas are important for the proper operation of your email account. Go into each one and become familiar with its function. Read the captions under each of the images below to help guide you through your account setup.

Personal Information: Change the name, address, and signature that people see when they read and reply to your email. Be sure to click On 'Save sent mail' if you will be storing your sent mail on the server.

Server Information: If your Email Client uses IMAP folder subscription you want to select this option. Microsoft Entourage uses this feature.

Time Zone: Select the city that is in your time zone.

Deleting and Moving Messages: Option for how you want your messages to be handled during certain operations and whether you want deleted messages moved to your trash folder. Selecting this second option will create a Trash folder. You would want to do this if you plan to store deleted messages on the server from your Email client software.

Maintenance Operations: If you want monthly sent-mail folders, you could automate this task. You can also automate the purging of your trash. Trash purging can also be configured from your Email client software.

Display Options: Adjusts the way your main message list displays. Three settings you may want to change are 'Expand the entire folder tree' set to Yes, 'Show legend' to Off and 'Mark different levels' to Off. Experiment here to see what you like.

Message Composition: Important setting on this page is Drafts folder. Select 'Create a new drafts folder' so that this will be created and available to select from your Mail client.

Login Tasks: These settings default to Off. Experiment with them to see what you prefer.

New Mail: Control when new mail will be checked, and whether or not to notify you when it arrives.

Folder Navigation: After making all of your selections in the Options area, you will return back to this screen. You will need to do a few more tasks to finish your configuration. First, click on Compose and create a message and send it to your self. This will test the system and create a sent-mail folder. Compose a second email but this time save it as a Draft. This will create your Draft folder. Finally, select the email you sent to yourself and delete it. This will create a Trash folder. Before logging out you will want to creat the last folder - Junk. This is done manually by following the next set of instructions.

Junk Folder Creation: This final step also shows you how to create message folders where you can store your old messages. First you will need to select the INBOX folder as the creation point for the Junk folder to be made. Then select Create Folder from the popup above or below the INBOX. When the dialog box comes up indicating it will create a sub-folder, enter the name Junk in the field and press OK.

Folder Navigator: Clicking on the + next to the INBOX icon should now expand open and show you the four main folders used by the mail system. When you go on to configure you Email client, these folders will appear and you can integrate them into your clients interface. That will be covered in the next section.
